This website is shared by all Smiths' businesses and is designed to provide you with
the information, advice and guidance you need to participate as a business leader in
the Leadership Talent Review and Succession Planning process. The Review process flows
through a series of meetings within the businesses culminating in an annual review with
the Chief Executive and the Board of Directors of Smiths Group plc.
The identification, development and retention of talent are critical drivers
of competitive advantage. In a world where there is no longer a 'job for life',
competition is global and people are increasingly willing and motivated to move
jobs frequently. Making the most of our potential leadership talent will be critical
in ensuring we reach our Full Potential plans both in the short term and the long term.
This process aims to ensure that Smiths has a strong leadership pipeline of talent in order
to meet its business growth and succession needs. The process involves:
- Identifying potential leadership talent from early career employees through
to senior leadership positions
- Assessing the ongoing strength and risk in our identified leadership pipeline
with regard to their ability, continued engagement with Smiths and their
ambition to succeed
- Monitoring career development to build the pipeline of potential leadership talent
- Developing Succession Plans, drawing from the identified leadership talent pipeline
